Development of a hybrid anti-icing coating with superhydrophobic and electrothermal properties

This talk presents the simple fabrication and experimental characterization of an energy-efficient hybrid anti-icing coating. The multi-layered coating consists electric heating film with a SiO2 / polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) superhydrophobic top is composed thin layer copper-based epoxy, insulated in PDMS film. was applied to 17-4PH stainless steel substrate by sequential spray-coating process. possessed static contact angle 164° sliding 3°. Characterization demonstrated its fast thermal response, producing 60 °C temperature rise 52 s. Icing experiments conducted at −10 showed that, when compared untreated substrate, increased droplet freezing time from 13 s 63 reduced ice adhesion strength 284 kPa 50 kPa. In simulated spray-icing environment, achieved minimum surface power density 0.26 W/cm2. energy consumption for 40%. results show that has potential use industrial applications due fabrication, high energy-efficiency, robust performance.
